Can someone please give me a ball park figure as to what having the rear window replaced in my Chimaera should cost me, mine just blew out on the M/W So, I'll be making some 'phone calls tomorrow and it would be nice to know if I'm being ripped off or not.

Thanks

Tim

Edited as I've just done a search and it seems to be around £150-175. Does anyone have any recomendations for a trimmer in Kent, preferrably around Canterbury/Ashford/Maidstone area. thanks again

I was thinking about this this afternoon..... is there a recommended max speed for "targa mode" (I assume you were driving Targa style?) Mine seemed OK at 60-70.

Cheers,

I took a friend out in mine today with the roof panel out (his first run in a TVR),and it was fine at 100mph but then it wasn't for a prolonged period, I'm sure it's different if you're on a motorway for longer periods.

I only use targa style once in a while, I prefer the roof right down, but I had to keep the canvas taught this afternoon as I was being careful with the thompsons incase it was still drying. It was dry to the touch though.....

I wasn't a complete Muppet, the rear window was temporarily glued in last week as it has come a drift along the top, the glue held out but the stitching down the side didn't

Never mind, i'm calling my insurers this morning to see if it's covered as a windcreen.

mine was ok in targa mode today on the Dorset run and that was at, er, some speeds over 70mph (only down my private drive of course )

I'm very glad I asked on hear as to how much we're looking at, i just 'phoned a local Trimmere, who advertises repairs to soft tops etc, do you know how much he just quoted?...

...are you sitting down...

...£280+ VAT - but they did say they co do it straight away.

Hmm, was it the fact that I mentioned TVR I wonder?

Soft Tops at Crystal Palace did my plastic screen about 2 years ago - and did a top job for good money. £200 inc. I believe he does all sorts of fabric roof repairs. www.soft-tops.co.uk

PMSL: Second quote just came in...

£320.00 and he won't guarantee that the rest of the hood isn't damaged when trying to change the window!!

I find this quite unbelievable.

I now have the number of a guy recommended by Walldonway TVR so hopefully this will be more realistic.
