Just got back from my first hoon in the TVR. Me and TomTVR went out, him in the Z4, me in the S2, and had an absolute hoot. Back end stepped out once, but I either have faster reactions than I thought I did, or I was lucky, as I managed to gather it up completely with a small flick of the wheel. I noticed it pulls a bit to the left under braking, so I'm going to get that checked out, and the brakes are also less than satisfactory in my view, so the bigger ones I have will be going on soon. Also found out that my fan DOES work, and that I'm a numpty and hadn't set the sliders right.
Best bit? Absolutely destroying a Porsche 911 that decided to pull out infront of me at a junction.....(he had the cheek to flick his indicator on as if to overtake me back, but I was already pedal to the metal, and wasn't going to slow down to let him past. He quickly gave up).

Are you sure the brakes dont just need bleeding, new pads etc ? I would be suprised if they werent good enough for the road.

It was a 911, one of the newer ones. In fairness I was doing about 50 by the time I was behind him, and then gave it full beans, so I had an advantage from the word go. I was accelerating as hard as I could, so to successfully overtake me would have required a huge amount more power on his part, especially given that we were approaching some bends, so perhaps he backed off? Still, it brought a grin to my face. Are you sure the brakes dont just need bleeding, new pads etc ? I would be suprised if they werent good enough for the road.

As for the brakes, I'm going to take them to bits with a friend over the next few days and have a look.

Isn't this the same guy that failed to take a corner, and hit the curb, but it wasn't his fault it was the ice

Don't understand all the comments. I know plenty of people who've had the back end of a TVR step out on them on test drives etc....hell, it happened to me the first time I drove a TVR, with the owner sat next to me, and he was encouraging me to go FASTER! I'm not a friggin numpty, I can drive (and as for the Punto incident, I think you will find Ahonen, a race engineer, did point out that applying power when in a slide in a FWD car can get it out of the slide. I'll take his view over some of you arm chair race drivers any day thanks). I wasn't even speeding in the Punto.
This was meant to be a thread about me taking my TVR out for my first proper hoon, and now you're ruining it. Cheers guys.

I was young once (honest) and I think I know exactly where the OP is coming from. As I have been there I also know what is likely to come next! Enjoy your car, but watch out for the OTHER drivers out there...and the law.
I am also working under the assumption that the other posters on here are, like me, just pulling his leg!
Well, we will see about me crashing. I've had one bump into a kerb in my 2 and a bit years of driving, that's my only mishap. I know plenty of people who have written their cars off soon after passing their tests.
Also, as for the law, we saw 3 police cars today, and not once were we doing anything silly.
