I have the netgear dgn2000 router that has been working fine, for stupid reasons of my own I decided to reset the whole thing and start again(it was working fine but I had forgot the password).
However I now cannot connect at all, and the connection status reads LCP down , CHAP authentication failed
does anyone know what this means and what I need to do to sort the problem?
Thanks

Arese

Sounds like you haven't entered the correct ADSL username/password in the router config.

thats odd...if LCP is down thats the actual service on the line its not detecting ....check the phone cable and filter

if LCP comes up, and CHAP fails, then its your password/username

Since you wiped your router config, there is a chance that uk specific settings have changed.
Check you vci/vcp setting should be VCI=0 VPI=38
