We are in the process of looking for a new car for Mrs Spdpug98; she currently has a Freelander and hates it with a passion.

Our 2 kids are just getting to the age where they can climb into their car seats (2yrs & 3yrs), so she has decided she doesn't need a 5-door car anymore and the car top of her list is a Fiesta ST

Is there anything we need to look out for or any common problems with the ST

Another vote for the fiestastoc I'm also there but generally observing!

Great little car for a 20 year old anyway! No problems other than the urge to remove my over the top stripes which j still can't bring myself to do!

My only issue is, bit noisey on the motorway could do with a 6th gear as sits at about 3500 - 3750rpm 70-80mph

electronic throttle control (brings a light on the dash) is the only common fault ive come across on these although rear wheel bearings and tyres wear quickly, apart from this cracking little car with fantastic ability. Do have to wring its neck to get the best out of it though smile

I bought mine from a 45 year old women that had done 6000 miles in 2 years.
Think she is one of those women that just buy the highest spec small car.
I remember seeing a 50 year old buying an R32 brand new as it had two shiney exhausts!

Power steering pumps get noisy due to no cooler, tyres last on the front around 12-15000 miles, the ib5 gearbox can have its problems, but on the plus side easy to tune for more power and great handling, as for the age thing im 43 and my partner she is 30 and loves the car, and thats who it was bought for, insurance costs us £225 a year fully comp.
Take one for a test drive and see what you think.
