My car went in for a service last week part of which included replacing a dying battery. I got the invoice from the dealer yesterday via email and noticed the mileage recorded as 38686. When the car went in it had covered roughly 23k. The service history and recent MOT back this as well.

For some reason the speedo has added roughly 15k to itself, maybe due to an issue with the battery being disconnected and reconnected again. Obviously this creates a problem for me, however the dealer is speaking to Ferrari at present as he has heard of this happenning before with these speedos.

Does anyone on here have any experience of this? Any advice gratefully received.

(Theories of the dealership doing a 15,000 mile roadtest at this point have been dismissed)

Thanks

23K miles = 37K kilometres.

Are you sure the speedo simply hasn't defaulted to Km for it's units?

38686 kms = 24038 miles so sounsd like the man is a genius. If this is the case it says a lot about the intelligence of the dealer!!!

to be fair it wasnt the first thing that entered either mine or the dearers mind. Spoken to him and this has happened to them ocne before on a 360. Apparently the unit is supposed to be tamper proof, so may need to go to Ferrari to be reset unless they can do it on their in house diagnostic.

Cant really criticise the dealer, as its a rare thing but does seem obvious in retrospect.

Sounds like the reverse mod could be popular over here on the Continent! Note to self: Remember to test drive cars over a measured kilometer!
