GT5 - End of the year

A Sony Computer Entertainment Europe executive has said that he expects Gran Turismo 5 to come out "this fall, before Christmas", while confessing the release date is "not yet decided".
The comments come from James Armstrong, boss of SCEE's Portuguese arm, in an interview with Spanish site Canarias Al Dia. They were spotted by GT Planet.
It was Armstrong who originally suggested that GT5 would be out in late 2009, a position held by Sony right up until a March 2010 Japanese release date was announced at last year's Tokyo Game Show. A summer Western release was mooted before the Japanese launch was delayed.
A new release date has yet to be given for the PS3's motorsport opus, so it's disappointing but hardly surprising to see Gran Turismo 5 heading towards the end of the year.
GT5 has now been in development for five years at a cost, according to creator Kazunori Yamauchi, of of some $60 million.

To wait this long for something it has to exceed your initial expectations by some margin, and every year that passes, you expect just that little bit more from it.

IMO This game will have to be the best console driving sim ever made and never be topped for it to be a success when it comes out.

The only official date was March 2010 in Japan, all the others have been speculation by magazines and retailers. I hope it's going to be worth the wait.

Playing devils advocate here, but you haven't either and you're convinced the wait will be worthwhile...

To wait this long for something it has to exceed your initial expectations by some margin, and every year that passes, you expect just that little bit more from it.

I don't get this 'worth the wait' bks, it's not like you can't play any other games in the interim period is it? It' not like you are banned from buying a 360 and a copy of Forza if you are eagerly awaiting GT5

I wholeheartedly agree. It seems to have been coined by those who refuse to do just that and will stick rigidly by their guns, refusing to give Forza a go, instead convinced that they must remain faithful to GT and that it's return will come, like that of Christ.

Slightly off-topic, but do i need Xbox live Gold to upload my Forza Photo's. I haven't bothered with Gold yet and do i also need Gold to redeem my 10 classic cars for Forza?.

I think you only need Gold to download content, uploading to Forza.net should be okay. I might be wrong though

You've got to be kidding, buy a whole new console for one game!?! I have a ps3 and have no intention of getting a 360 just for one driving game. There really is no option but to wait.

What a farce from Sony. They are setting them selves up for such a fall as all the gamers expectations will be extremely high and the game will not be anywhere near them.

A bit like GTA4, such Hype and high expectations and then the game wasn't what everybdoy wanted.

Not really, it's been in development since the release of the PS3. Besides the first thing PD showed on the PS3 (E3?) was GT HD (not the GT HD demo that was released to the public) which was basically GT4 in HD. At that point they only had a couple of real GT5 cars to show spinning in a showroom.

Not really the media have been saying it was a title release but sony never confirmed it.

Personally I am looking forward to it but as people have said there are far more games out there. At the mo my digital driving needs are covered by Dirt 2 & Forza 3. No doubt GT5 wont do everything that Forza does and no doubt forza wont do everything GT5 does.
