It depends on which one is closest/most convenient. Tend to shop at Morrisons/Sainsburys the most lately. The market butcher shops get a visit too.

I do an occasional shop in Waitrose and its fantastic. Its like doing your food shopping in a museum, everybody is well behaved, the staff are polite and its not even that expensive for normal things.

Just lately I've been going into the Marks and Spencers in Camberley too. Now their food is fantastic. Sausage rolls without gristly bits in, decent sausages, excellent bread, yummy sandwiches and wraps. Oh and their dark chocolate biscuit rounds are fantastic. I just had one that was missing the biscuit part and was just a big lump of dark chocolate. Yum! I'm tempted to write them a letter to thank them and see if I can get some free stuff.

But back on planet earth, Sainsburys. Unless I'm left out of my road and upto aldershot, I'll be going past or near a sainsburys. So as always it's because its convenient.

Booths Ripon. Even better than Waitrose in Harrogate.

Waitrose for me too. A much nicer shopping experience than the other major supermarkets.

Would love to do it at the various independents (butcher, baker, candlestick-maker greengrocer, etc) but the convenience of Sainsburys unfortunately trumps them.

I have a Sainsbury's around the corner, but since I shop online I can choose any supplier. I alternate between Ocado (Waitrose) and Sainsbury's.

Wherever I happen to be passing, Lidl is the closest to my house so a lot of the stuff is from there but I may visit a Tesco or a Sainsbury and if im in town when the weekly market is on I may pick up some bits and bobs.

I don't tend to do a weekly shop as such, just pick up bits and pieces as and when I need them.

To that end, the Sainsburys Local over the road fits the bill, because:

It's, well, local.
It has self-service check outs.
It's cheaper and better than the bloody Co-Op further down the road.
They do a pack of two egg custards for 59p.

The egg custards are, for me, the deal-breaker.

Morrisons.

Their stuff is quite good

They've got actual vegetables on the actual shelves rather than in out of stock (Tesco)

I can park in their car park without fighting for a space amongst those using the football stadium next door (Asda)

It's on a retail park rather than in the city centre (Sainsburys)

I find the experience of shopping in Waitrose miles better to any of the other supermarkets in Bury St Edmunds. Sainsburys is too far to travel and Tescos and Asda are full of chavs.

I simply can't use Tesco or Asda, always full of undesirables. Sainsbury's usually with the occasional jaunt to Waitrose.

Tesco due to 'nearest big store to get everything I want in one go', for odds and sods I walk down to the village Co-op

Asda seeing as there's a huge Asda-Walmart about a minute away from my house.

I tend to take advantage of it being open 24 hours and do most of my shopping late at night, so in many ways I get the best of both worlds - considerably cheaper prices than the likes of Waitrose, and a near empty store meaning no queues and barely another customer in the place.

Occasionally I make the mistake of going in there on the weekend during the day, which quickly reminds me why I do my shopping when the store is largely devoid of customers....

Asda.

Not only is it the cheapest but it is a 2 minute drive from my house and easily walkable for quick dashes.

Sainsbury's here.

Have a Co-op, Asda and an Aldi equally close by, prefer the Sainsbury's stuff though - costs a little more, but if you keep an eye out for offers it isn't too bad, and the quality of the fresh stuff is far and away better.

My butler's having a days rest so I'll ask one of my footmen at dinner tonight where the cooks shop.
