Just wondering how many on here have got one and how you are getting on with it.

Had mine a week now and still finding things it can do. Probably because there's no bloomin' manual as such with it smile

Down sides? Battery life is a bit pants though havent checked if there is a car charger available yet.
Getting used to answering the phone with a touch screen ( after the BB Curve) admitting to cutting off a few calls due to operator error!
Had a few frustrated moments with the email not sending but a switch off/on seemed to resolve the issue.
Installed Firefox, played for about an hour then deleted it.

Other than that its an excellent bit of kit, hoping theres some decent applications on the way.
Love the way you can plug it straight into a tv and use it as a monitor. My 3 yr old enjoyed drawing on the sketchpad and seeing it on tv

Been looking at getting one for the last couple of months, but not totally convinced by its usability / practicality.

Things like maps with no voice, no IMAP IDLE, no Xenon flash, etc is a put-off on a £500 gadget that should be able to do "everything"

Maps without voice ... so far. With what Nokia are doing with their Ovi Maps, it's only going to be time before they bring out the full suite.

Xenon flash though - thats something Nokia seem to be completely ignoring. Heck, pretty much the whole market is ignoring it as not being needed.

Owning a Satio I'm not sure if I'd agree with that that it's not needed. Trying to take pics of nights out in clubs with dodgy lighting would be an absolute nightmare without it.

I totally agree - I had the K800, and the W810 with the addon flash. It was pretty damn useful to be able to use my phone for pictures on a night out.

I'm just saying that the manufacturers and the buyers don't seem to be flocking to devices with Xenon. Its bloody irritating.

Its the main reason that I'm quietly looking for a Nokia N82 - the Satio is fine, but expensive, an N82 will take pictures that look as good most of the time, and be a fair bit cheaper.

Is this the same device as an N900? Or is it different?

I'm working on the assumption of typo error, should have read "N900".

Imap idle is a bit of a pain but I've just set it to check every 10 mins which for personal mail is good enough as push mail is a bit of an overkill.

Maps will hopefully be supported soon and the camer is very good but as you said would be better with a proper flash.

Web browsing is amazing especially being able to watch youtube in browser. I came from Android and I love my N900. It's so customiseable and there is a great community around it already.

Already? The Maemo community has been working on apps for probably 5 years - each time a new Maemo device or OS has appeared they're busily re-compiling for the new device, then busy working at getting the new OS features working on the previous versions of the OS ....

I just hope that the whole community stays with the sort of spirit its had before. Some stunning apps have been out there - Canola was awesome, but the 770 was never really fast enough for it - the N900 should be absolutely fine (Canola is a media center type application, one stop shop for you videos, pictures and sounds).

My apologies, it should read 900, if any mods wish to change it smile
And no, I was using my iBook when I made the error!

Just as an extra, I looked at charging with a non-Nokia charger and even though it said it was charging it wasnt. Scared the life out of me when it had a hissy fit and wouldnt restart. Plugged in the Nokia charger and all was fine. Apparently the D- and D+ terminals in the chargers need shorting but I think I will just get another Nokia one instead..

I agree that the platform has been around for a while but I feel that the community are really getting behind the N900 as a way to get the whole os mainstream. I love the DNLA support built in as it was one thing missing from my Android phone.

Sure its no BB when it comes to email though once you set it up it does collect your mail, though as said every 10 minutes or so.
As a positive the browser is very impressive, even using o2 postpay it renders the full page quicker than my old BB would a page adapted for mobile. Using wifi its faster than my iBook.

Ive had lots of people ask what it is and a few who know, say they liked it. Id be interested to see the 910 when it comes out, as the touch screen is pretty good imo (I didnt like the iPhone one) but I do use the slide out keyboard.
