I've noticed in the last couple of years that school holidays seem to be staggered so it's not as clear cut what the dates are.

Would it be correct to assume that during the week commencing July 3rd all the nations kids would still be in school ?

Yes. IIRC schools break up in around the third week of July.

State schools have quite different holidays to private schools.

If you want to find out in your area just look at a local school website and you'll see term dates. Alternatively look at a holiday website and see when the prices take a giant leap.

yes Private schools break up earlier. About mid-May if your fees are >£10k a year hehe

I can't imagine that the families with kids in private schools with those sort of fees will be slumming it where I'm going biggrin

If you think you are going to avoid hoardes of kids by avoiding school holidays think again. Parents take their children out of school early or make them return later in order to avoid the hike in costs. Non breeders still have to endure other peoples unruly brats.

Believe it or not, some parents actually make their kids behave!!

Up here in Scotland, summer hols start at beginning of July, but even this varies from region to region slightly.

You don't have children, do you?

No, neither do I but I thought I'd get a pre-emptive strike in before some holier-than-thou parent said it.
