Yep, based on that and Top Gear's recent trip I'm fairly sure I'd rather do it on a 2ft wide mountain bike than an 8ft wide truck.

The 30 secs or so of images before the accident - showing a road cut into/through the rock - are not the same road, that one is in China.

I've done that in a group of about 10 people and was 1st down - great fun

In hindsight, 2 people died the previous fortnight and the bike sliding on slippery corners could have ment certain death (still good fun)

Would it help to grow a beard like the guide has?

Yeah, I did it a couple of years ago in a group... pretty nuts doing 64k of continuous downhill starting at about 4900m altitude, quite short on oxygen and pretty cold, finishing at around 1000m in a hot and humid jungle!

Defo worth doing if you are over there but if you are expecting a fast white knuckle decent you might be disappointed.... Whilst it seems pretty dangerous i found it quite sanitised, The companies doing it understandably like to keep a good safety record!!

Saying that taking a corner close to the edge and looking straight down over a 400m vertical cliff, riding through waterfalls and some amazing scenery do make up for it.
