I have just discovered, after three years of ownership, that hidden in the back of the glovebox is a 3.5mm jack 'aux' connector for hooking up an MP3 player to the stereo system (CD6000 unit). It looks nothing like an audio connector at first glance and there is NO mention of it in my manuals (either the main handbook or the audio system guide).

Well done Ford for doing the hard work but then neglecting to tell me it was there....

On the plus side, at least I've found it now!

Interesting. I'll have to check the glovebox on my 2009 as I've assumed there isn't one too. I had checked the armrest. Then again, what use it is in the glovebox is debatable....

Page 12 in owners manual (Audio & Navigation Systems manual) covers it. Not sure if the main owners manual has it.

Not in my copy of the audio guide. The date on the back cover reads "02/2003 en". maybe it was updated later?

I run a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to this socket, but apparently if you get a LOD (line out docking) cable with 3.5mm one end and ipod wide connector at other, the sound quality is better due to being unamplified feed. You'll have to get a charging LOD if you want to power at the same time, but this is something you can do using a cheapo car charger if you use the headphone socket option.
