As the title really. A colleague of mine received a padded envelope from play.com that should've contained a CD. By the looks of it, the envelope has been ripped open carefully, had the CD removed from it, taped back up and then continued its merry way through the wonderful Royal Mail postal system.

What are the buyers rights in this situation?

Standard post or Recorded? Either way, full refund must be given by the seller.

Someone has helped themselves along the way...

Yep, someone very light fingered. I've heard of stuff going missing before but never heard of anyone having the audacity to put the envelope back in the system.

I had an undelivered item from play.com over christmas. The item was resent after it had still not arrived 21 days later.

Likewise, IIRC their policy says you must wait 21 days for delivery.

Did he check to see there wasn't any MP3's in it instead ?

They are meant to be all the rage these days.
hehe I don't think she knows what an MP3 is. She's a 60 odd year old woman.

I wouldn't expect them to make you wait 21 days before dealing with the problem though, OP, i'd drop them an email and imagine they will sort it no problem.

Sounds like a similar situation to my boss. Bought a camera on ebay, was delivered a taped up box full of foam chips. On closer inspection it looks like it's been opened and taped back up...
