i have decided to grow up and sell my vx220 T. and get a propper car e39 M5

however my existing insurance company wont even quote me till im 30!!!!! as if i nt to be that old lol.

but on a serious note ive have all sorts of cars from m3,s tvr's evos etc and ive never had this many problems getting insurance.

im 26 live in a good area with a garage clean licence etc. the only quote i have so far is £1600 i wasnt sure weather to laugh in her face or just fall over from the shock.

so where do you guys insure yours.?

Forgive me if you've done this already but have you tried confused or insuresupermarket? I got okay ish quotes (£700 rings a bell) on there and I'm the right side of 30 (just!).

I can't particularly recommend them but Adrian Flux may be a good starting point.

Good car choice by the way!

I've got mine through Admiral on a multicar policy. I pay 1/5 of your quote... but then I am a fair bit older. boxedin

i tend to use confused.com for a base-line quote, then ring a few specialists.... i'm currently with flux, they were cheapest on the Z4MC, interestingly the Z4MC is about the cheapest M car to insure(£650 i pay)!

i was shocked when i got a quote for a E36 M3 EVO worth 5k, £200 more than the M Coupe! E39 M5 and E46 M3 about £150 more for me (i'm 31, 5 years NCB, one BIG accident in 2008 frown)

Chris Knott 2008 S2000 which is group 20. When I insured the car I was 28, living in NW4 with 4 years NCB. £700. Parked on the road and 4000 miles a year.

The search engines were £1100+. Admirial on multicar plans about £900 if i remember correctly.

Another vote for Adrian Flux here, they've always been best for me, if you look through my car history nothing as impressive as an M5 but still they were cheap. Also worked ouyt about £600 a year cheaper than the nearest quote for a friend on his R32 GTR Skyline about 4 years ago.

Might be worth picking up a copy of PerformanceBMW and seeing if there are any specialist BM insurers like in the VW scene with Brentacre and HIC.
