why dont people realise 10 years of house price inflation and wasted public sector expenditure is not real growth and 0.1percent growth after a 6percent drop in growth pumping 200 billion of funny money into the economy is not growth either......now they propose we can have growth with reduced energy dependency, the only growth here will be increases in peoples energy bills and taxes...

I'm surprised they are closing the scheme as I suspect in reality it's costing the government very little. Surely they are just giving back SOME of the VAT that they wouldn't be getting without the scheme anyway?

From what I heard the govt made around £500 ish per car?

When cars are scrapped under the scheme are they crushed 'as is' or are they sent to a breakers yard for partial re-cycling?
