Laptop running slow... please help

Hi guys,

I'm ok with my laptop but not the most knowledgeable either...


I have had my laptop for just over a year now... a Toshiba Satellite Pro running Windows Vista using Intel Celeron.

At first my laptop ran very smoothly and quickly but now very sluggish.

C drive is just over 50% full
D drive only 10% full

I run a reg disk clean up and defrag, also freq clearing browsing history and that from Chrome.

I use Kaspersky Internet security and run scans every so often but nothing detected.

I was advised to try CCleaner and malware byte. TBH I have not noticed any significant improvement.

Any ideas to what I can do?

Stop unwanted programs starting when Windows starts. Ccleaner has an easy option to do this. If you don't know what the listed progams are you can Google them to find out.

Add more RAM.
