I appreciate art, but how can it be worth 65 million pounds!?

Though I suppose if you have the money, why not. Is the chap who made it still alive or is he dead?

As long as it hasn't been bought by an art gallery spending public money, I don't mind. As far as people with more money than sense are concerned, if they don't know what to do with it, best they give it away in exchange for this sort of thing, and hopefully it will go to people who do know what to do with it.

Money can't buy you sense obviously!

I'm clearly in the wrong line of work. I was producing stuff like that back at my school when I was a kid.

How THAT....or any piece of art could be worth £65million quid is beyond me!

I don't think things like that get bought for the art, they get bought as an investment. It can only reach that kind of price if there are other people prepared to part company with that much cash to own it, which shows that you should always be able to get at least most of your money back - but more likely, it'll be sold again in a while at an even higher price.

It would need to be substantially higher. There was £7m of auctioneers commission in that.

£65million for a life sized sculpture of Victoria Beckham? He didn't even get the deformed feet right.

After seeing the news reports on the latest Sotheby's excitement, I am more sure than ever that fine 'art' - even the good stuff - really is only for the very rich who have run out of ideas on how to spend their money.

I think some scientists proved recently that the more you spend on a particular piece of art the larger your cock actually is.

All those hedge fund mangers and illuminati international bankersbiggrin
I think the cop at the end of The Thomas Crown Affair remake aptly puts it aboot 'very silly rich people getting upset over some swirls of paint', but in this case, it's a lump of metal.

It's 50/50, but there's only a 10 per cent chance of thatsilly
