I have the option of either of these two Office suites for my 64-bit Win 7 laptop. Which should I go for?

2003 is easier to use but then OpenOffice will have more in it, is practically identical and free.
Isnt the 2010 beta free anyway to download?

Yeah I have a copy of 2003 available and I got a copy of 2010 beta on the front of a magazine but wasn't sure which one I should install. I already have a copy of Works on it.

2010 beta for now (it'll work until October and is free to download). Much better than 2003 (particularly Outlook, which has been significantly de-fked). Lots of improvements over 2003, especially in Excel's table handling and things like Word's style management.

Plus you can stop it being that nauseating shade of baby blue.

2010 beta becomes non functional after 31st October 2010.

Also, if you use the new file formats (docx, xlsx) you may have reduced functionality when editting these files in Office 2003 (you also need to install the Comatibility Pack for the Office 2007 System).
