Hello All

Completely new to audio stuff, I have had a set of cheap Argos Technics headphones for about 15 years now and they have finally given up. Having read through a few of the threads in here I am wondering if I can find a replacement within budget (£20-40) which will sound a bit better? I want over ear ones to keep MrsW happy, and am not fussed on cordless ones.

A lot of reviews on here seem to suggest particular models for different types of music - does it really have that much effect on things? If so, then I mostly listen to Katherine Jenkins/opera/classical vocal stuff, with occassional Def Leppard and Whitesnake.

Cheers

James

Jays v-Jays are rather good.

ETA, not really hifi headphones, but portable headphones that can easily be driven by any portable player.

Thanks.

After a bit of discussion with Dad I have stretched the budget enough to go for some Grado sr-60s smile

Will I need to look into getting a little amp for these if I am runnning them from and ipod/portable cd player?

You should be fine with the Grado's straight out from a ipod or so, they are very efficient and easy to drive.
