Anyone seen IT MIGHT GET LOUD ?

A music documentary type film about the history and love of the electric guitar by David Guggenheim. I must admit i've always loved anything by Jimmy Page and Led Zepelin, and recently have been getting into Jack White's The White Stripes and The Raconteurs. The third member of the documenatry is U2's, The Edge. So went into this with avid interest.

Beautifully filmed, very imformative going back to each of their histories and how the guitar became such a big part of their lives and where their individual styles and influences come from.

In the company of Page and White, The Edge looked hopelessly out classed. I understand given U2's status and unfluence on modern pop/rock why he was chosen, but unfortunately any parts that included him were a little dull.

Best bit for me was Jimmy Page explaining how he devoloped a new overdrive pedal that overloaded the signal and gave huge stustain. The result was the iconic 'Whole Lotta Love'.
When Jimmy gives a quick demo to White And The Edge, you can just see the admiration and pure god like aura that they hold him. Both smiling and watching avidly as every finger reached it's perfect note. Simply sublime.

Lots of archive footage of all three, but the early Page in The Yardbirds and Zepelin is stunning. The famous double kneck guitar from Satirway makes an appearance.

9/10

(could have bee 10, sorry Edge)

If you get a chance, well worth a look if you love guitar rock and these artists. smile

It's great ain't it?

I posted about it in the 'music' forum, but it only sparked a tedious debate about how st all 3 were, compared to Steve Vai/ Joe Satriani etc...rolleyes

Glad you enjoyed it anyway..thumbup
