Flickering electrics

Since owning the Nob, all lighting has flickered at low revs. Including the dash lights etc. I suppose it's bound to be poor earthing somewhere. Thought I might do something about it this year. Any clues as to where to start looking?

I had the same problem and it was driving me crazy, when sat in traffic all the lights on the car started to flicker. I have just fitted a new fuse box and i've not had a problem with it anymore, would be worth you testing to see if it's bad connections on your fuse box maybe?

Its a common problem. Something to do with the battery lead earth being too narrow a diameter, I seem to recall Adrian mentioning something about it. TheDevil has replaced his lights for HID's as he was suffering the same, and they are solid now, no flickering, as the ballast pack is a 35w compared to a 55/65w headlight bulb.

Have just bought a 4 terminal fuse box for under the rear clam. Is that the one you're talking about? I've not fitted it yet.

Mines a 2.5, so has different lights. What bulbs can be fitted to improve looks and vision, any ideas?

No i replaced the main fuse box in the passenger foot well, mine had badly corroded terminals and the plastic was melted so it needed a new one. I had the engine running with the lights on and so i could see the dash lights flickering then i fiddled about with the fuses under the dash, as soon as i moved certain fuses the lights would stop flickering so i knew where the problem was. May not be the problem you have but worth a look as it's a fairly simple fix if it is?

Cheers Metalman, I'll have a look at the box in the footwell. After all, it does get a bit damp down there.

No problem. Sounds like yours is the same as mine, the carpets were damp and so was the fuse box, water coming from the pipe just above. The hose clamps were st quality so i bought some clamps three times the width and they do up tight all the way round the rubber so no chance of any more drips!!!

I put a dehumidifier?? in my car for two days and it sucked nearly 3 litres of water out the interior of my noble. Bear in mind its been sitting for 6 months without use! didnt realise how long id been a lazy bd. with a bit of luck it'll be going again in the next couple of weeks

I'm not too bothered about the damp, it's the steaming up that gets on my nerves. 2 minutes in a car park and you can't see bugger all when you get back in!
