Quite fattening i presume as it contains a lot of carbs (sugar), some fat too.
Think about all the ingredients: cream, custard, jelly, sponge cake, and fruit.
This kind of dessert doesn't seem to fill me up (quite light on the stomach) as well as other puddings, therefore probably best served after a large meal.
I do like it though...

Trifle should not have jelly in. Disgusting, quivering, tasteless stuff... and it just takes up space that could more usefully be filled with extra custard and cream
^ thatTesco finest trifle isn't far off what i'd make at home though- proper sponge base, nice layer of real fruit and jam (with a good slug of alcohool), a good custard and whipped double cream. Good stuff.
