power steering on 1985 924??

folks

i know this is a silly question but would a b reg 924 come with power steering?..checked for power steering pump but cannot see..funny thing is that the first 1/3rd of the steering feels like but then gets really tough.

If it's harder with the engine switched off you've got power steering

If it's harder after 1/3 turn - do the wheels turn in the first 1/3? Stand outside the car with the window open, turn the wheel, and see if the roadwheels turn with a 1cm movement of the steering wheel.

If you HAVE got power steering and it gets stiffer, start by checking the fluid level, then the belt.

PS - power steering (if it's there) will probably be attached by a belt drive to alternator or water pump...
