Me! I thought Nightwatch was the better film though. Still no news on the third one frown

Loved Nightwatch - haven't seen Daywatch.

Absolutely loved all four books. "The Last Watch" is excellent.

Nightwatch was interesting. Haven't got around to Daywatch yet.

Are the books suitably dark ?

Harry Potter they are not.

But nor are they unremittingly bleak either.

I found all four unputdownable.

Thanks. I will look into picking them up at some point in the near future.

I thought you were talking about Nightwatch with Steve Scott, where they follow emergency services about at night. Always watch that when I finish a late shift...

Nightwatch, Daywatch, Twilight Watch, Final Watch.

The first two have been made into films, not as good as the books but still good!

3/4 way through nightwatch...

So if I enjoy the films the books should be good?

The books describe the concept of the different levels of the twilight, moving through them, and all the other magic related stuff with far more detail and flair than is managed in the movies. It was always going to be a hard thing to translate to film so the director effectively treats it as far less critical to the story than it is in the books.

I always prefer books to movies though!

I found the books good, but not great. I got the impression that quite a lot had been lost in the translation to English.

The concept as explained in the books was always going to be difficult to translate onto film.

The fact that it is Russian "noir" is also a factor, it is quite different to Western ideas.

hehe Now we're into Russian translation semantics but I'll admit that your offering sounds better!
