I know nothing about football...

What does the captain actually do? Surely stuff like training/team selection etc is down to the manager.

what a joke, big deal. Why didn't he get dropped (from all matches) and lose all his income (from alll sources) for at least 3 months instead? So basically, he won't be 'team leader' for one game, 90 mins. Absolutely meaningless and as usual the media making it sound like such a big punishment rolleyes

So say you cheat on a partner.

Would you like your boss to do the same to you? no pay for 3 months?

Terry is in a position to set an example to loads of kids out there. He gets paid a bag load for supposedly setting up and being a respectful example to look up to - not just playing football.

So, not even a close comparison between someone anonymous in the same situation. As for the female involved, I would also ban her from earning a single penny from any story related to any part of this unless it was all donated to charity. If that happened, you wouldn't see that leach Clfford around at all.

Why must everyone use the example as a role model?

When did a footballer become a role model? Certainly they have never been a role model in my lifetime, quite the opposite. His job is to play football, he is good so competes on International level. He gets paid a lot of money because he is part of the team that makes a lot of money for a company (Chelsea).

She hasn't done anything wrong. It isn't as crime to have sex with someone, he committed adultery. She just had sex, morally it may not be perfect for it to be a married man and ex's team mate. But in reality it is no big deal. A lot of worse things have happened in the past few days of this story.

I say she should milk the story. If the public are so stupid that the consider this to be an important story, then good on her for making it pay.

Terry has cheated on his wife. That is a matter for his wife, no one else.

Will it change how he plays football? No. Then why should his job change?

I am totally neutral on this.

I am absolutely certain that Capello has asked him to step down so he can be relieved of some of the media heat and get everyone in the team focussing on the task in hand - i.e. the World Cup.

If he stayed on as Captain, for months on end he would have to endure endless probing and questionning about his private life.

Terry's job is to make headlines on the back pages of newpapers, not the front.

The media and parents too lazy to actually get off their arses and do some parenting put that responsibility on him. He never signed up for all this 'role model' crap. He signed up for one thing; to play football. Now, if the fact he cheated with a team mate's partner means he's lost the respect of the team, then he should probably lose the captaincy. But he shouldn't lose it just because people have bestowed him with the label of 'role model', which he never asked for and I suspect, didn't want.

That's a very interesting point of view. Morally reprehensible, way off the mark and totally out of touch with the public opinion, but interesting none the less.

It still amazes me that this personal issue has beeen brought into football.

He's cheated on his wife, which is a disgrace, and he should answer to that...outside of football.

What people seem to be forgetting is that at the time of the affair, Wayne Bridge and Miss Peroncel WERE NOT TOGETHER anymore. They had already split up so it's not like Terry has gone behind Bridge's back.....so any bhing about not being able to play in the same team is Bridge's problem.

Ok, the unwritten rules between mates says you shouldn't cop off with your mates ex.....but in no way should this much of a fuss be made over it.

Still, what's done is done I suppose. I just hope we come up with someone better that Rio Ferdinand.

I think Rooney is probably still a bit too young. Gerrard would be the logical choice IMO.

That is because the public are stupid and generally use the media to choose their "idols".

Such as Jade Goody, Jordan, John Terry.

If you really consider these as role models, then your children will be fked.

They are only considered role models when the media want to portray them in a good light, they will knock them down to sell papers. Everyone will hate them. A couple of months down the line there will be another story on them, and everyone will love them.

Rather than just sack you ?

I don't get all this aggro about his (alleged) infidelity. Why is it front page news ? Knocking the Govts trauma's off the front page - perhaps Mandy is behind the press releases scratchchin

So, he had an affair with an ex-partner of a colleague. Why is that a sacking offence ? Has it affected his ability as a footballer or captain ? Brought the game into disrepute ?

Obviously he has some domestic issues to sort out, but can't we just leave him alone to resolve his domestic issues ? If he had some honour he might make himself unavailable citing personal issues but so long as he has the dressing room with him we should let him and FA management decide.

If he has lost the respect of the players then he should be replaced, because he cannot be captain without the players behind him.

Sing along time...

Chelseeeeeeeea, wherever you may be,
Don't leave your wife with John Terry,
It could be worse, he might be Scouse,
Then he'd shag your wife and rob your house.
