Honour killing? in what bizarre way is it more honourable to bury alive a 16 year old girl than it is for her to talk to boys? These scum need a dose of their own medicine

I can't wait until they join the EU! Like most conservative Islamic states, they clearly have much to offer the rest of us; both culturally and economically. Scum. Sub-human scum.

Turkey isn't a conservative Islamic state - it's a secular state (they even briefly banned Arabic), and these killings are mainly happening in the Kurdish regions where many of the residents are a bit, er, backward. The Police have arrested and charged a suspect - how different is this case than a UK 'honour' killing where the Police then arrest and charge the suspects?

There are plenty of murders taking place in the UK, just read today's papers. So now a complete country of 70+ million is judged by the actions of one family? Thousands of British tourists travel there each year because it's a cheap destination now compared with the strong Euro in the Eurozone countries. For the majority of Brits that will always take priority over any moral purity and yet they are in the EU.

yes

Agree entirely. Turkey has inherited as big a 'minorities' problem as the UK has, except theirs are located in very inaccessible areas and often have firearms. Oh, and a standard of education that would make most UK chavs seem erudite...

The only upside of this is that the Turkish punishment may well actually be fitting.

We need to make Europe a more diverse, inclusive community. As it is, it's far to "European". How about having Morocco as well?
