What's it worth?
Discussion
Got a 10m x 6m wooden pool house that suffered from a small fire around the pump, damaged the pool and created a small hole about 1m x 1m in one wall before the nice fireman managed to douse the fire. The building is internally lined with pine, walls are insulated, a pitched roof and measures about 5m at the peak. It stands on 2 rows of breeze blocks and has a suspended wooden floor.
Problem is that the interior has suffered smoke damage, making it uneconomic for the insurance co. to do the cleaning, repair and re-instating as a usable pool house.
I've been offered two choices - they will knock it down, remove all rubble and then re-instate "as-new", or give me a lump sum and leave it to me to do with it as I wish.
Question is ....
Has the building got any intrinsic value for someone to come and dismantle and take away, or has the wood got any re-sale value - there are 4 huge beams that run the width of the building, and have to be over 12" deep and the exterior is still in good condition...
If I take the cash, I'll knock it down and level the site, just trying to work out if its worth offering the building for sale?
