Looking to add a second screen (prob 24') to my imac to facilitate post processing (keep the workflow on one screen and full size pics on the other) etc. Was looking at http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB382B/A?fnode=M... on the apple site but seems quite expensive. Could anybody reccomend a decent screen of similar size that is
1. upto the job and 2. would look in keeping with an imac

many thanks in advance CAB

We've got a lot of different monitors at work. We bought some Dell monitors, as a bit of research showed they used the same lcd panels as the mac, but were much cheaper.

however, apple use a different backlights to dell, and it shows. Fill the screen with grey, and the apple monitor is a constant colour and brightness across the screen. The dell however, varys in brightness at the edges, quite considerably. Also, we found the dell to be a bit of a nightmare to colour calibrate.

For the price though, dell's monitors arent bad- at work, we're just super fussy, because we do a lot of graphics / video production work

Thanks for the input guys - wish apple would simply sell a screen without
- i sight
- inbuilt speakers

have all this stuff and dont want/wish to pay for it all over again when not required (although an extra DVD drive would be useful)....

may have to look at flea bay!!

Thanks CAB

I have a older Apple 23", and highly recommend it!

I've just looked on eBay though and one is over £300 with a few hours to go, seems expensive!

My imac is 24" so know i will love the screen, but at c £600 the second monitor is prob more than half the price of an imac...
