Is anyone here a Tv or Film Extra?
Discussion
I don't do it, but have attended an audition for Extras. Cardington Hangers, just outside Bedford are used quite often for film work...and I think my audition was for one of the batman films ( could have been the latest, not too sure). There were literally thousands queuing for their chance in the spotlight, you were handed a 3 month style calendar with dates you had to mark off of when you were available. Pictures were taken with a number you had to hold up, application form was attached to the pics....then you just waited to see if they wanted to use you.
They didn't in my case

That much? I was done. I got paid £30 for standing on a boat, rhubarbing with nutters*, drinking fake champagne out of several glasses that turned out to have not been washed. My mate works in films and needed some extras so I helped out. I wouldn't do it for a living, but spoke to loads of people that do (see * above). There are decent agencies that can be found on t'internet, but I imagine you already know:1. It's not a steady form of income
2. The pay isn't great for potentially have to stand round in the rissing pain
3. The hours can be ungodly
I only did one day and it was one of the longest of my life. I told my mate to only call me when she needs someone to stand very close to Jake Gyllenhaal

I used to do it on and off back in the mid-late 90's, and it was £65/day back then.....

Oh and extra tenner per day if you got soaked to the skin under one of their ludicrous rain making contraptions

Long days and sometimes nights and the hanging around can be soul destroying at times for what isn't a lot of reward tbh.
