have been leaving for work at 5:30 in the morning recently......nice to be on the road alone if you know what i mean, but at that time in the morn and when its this cold..-3 this morning my engine sounds really rattly! shes done 35k now and coming up to a service and due for a tappet check, is anyone else experiencing extra rattle at the moment? not too sure if people notice my sports exhaust!!!! or my tappets first hehe!

What's it like once warmed up? Have you checked the oil level recently?

loads better warm, a bit tattery as most clattercams seem to be, oil full

If its OK when warm, then I wouldn't worry. It has been colder these last few days.

Been doing a fair few late-night drives over the last few weeks, and it does sound rotten for about the first 10 minutes when the temperature's below freezing. Still purrs like a kitten when warmed up, though. (Ignoring the fuse & battery debacles!)

Had the same problem myself, tappet adjustment sorted it, although still a little tappety due to clatter cams.
