Thinking of buying a Cerbera
Discussion
Folks,
I have owned a Chimaera for many years but the new arrival in our lives requires a 'sensible' car.
I can keep the Chimaera but will need to buy something to carry a small child around in.
So options include an Audi, or other 4-door, 4-seater, etc. Alternatively I could buy a Cerbera so I wondered whether I could ask a few questions?
What do I look for - desirable engines, problems, etc.? Which is the car for relatively trouble-free motoring?
I should add that I am happy to pay a man to sort things out so this is not a hobby per se - I have the Chim for that - it is a 'practical' alternative car.
Also, I seem to remember that you could buy a child seat to match the Cerbera - is this true, and are they still around?

Ive got a cerb and a chim. The cerb is a totally different car as you probabally know. The running costs are double that to the chim and access to the rear for putting children in is awkward. If it is going to be used ocassionally for this you could live with it but any more than that I would consider another car. Having said all that I still went out and bought one and have never regretted it.
Tried to talk the missus into one as a replacement for the old mx-5. Took one for a drive and it's spirited above 6K revs, but she's decided a newer mx-5 is better.
RX8 is fun though, decent sized boot, 4 decent seats, only worry is it uses a litre of oil every 1K miles and does 15-20 mpg on average. Apparently you can get them to 25-27mpg if very frugal on a run. Makes the cerbera look positively economical

Mazda RX8? Quite good fun, decent size boot, 4 good seats.
Agreed, good choice. The Cerbera may have 4 seats (sort of), but it's definitely not sensible or practical. Anyway stop trying to talk him out of a Cerb

Probably not the best choice however what can I say I swapped my practical alternative Audi for the Cerbera and have never looked back
