Bought a landline phone fro Tesco in the sales 1/2 price - £60.

It stopped working so I took it back. I'd chucked the receipt but they agreed to accept a credit card statement showing £60.

Phones are now £120 but they didn't have them in stock so I was given £120 to spend in store.

Just come back with a different phone (bit cheaper, but still more than I paid first time round), DAB radio, DVD for the kids, Redex for an Italian Service and a few other bits and bobs.

Result.

Soundsl ike an error by the cashier

The price of the item is linked to the barcode, so looks like they have refunded you by scanning them item (?) which has given you a full refund, when they should have looked at the statement and refunded you the actual amount manually.

Probably thought yo' were a Gangster bro'.

I bought an Hitchitani-San TV years ago, and they wheeled out the same set but 4'' bigger to load into my car.

I did one sharpish, technically theft I suppose. The shame.

Tesco can afford to return items without receipt, hence their great returns policy of no receipt, just wrappped up. biggrin

Although crecit card/bank statement should suffice for all retailers.

Nope, spoke to the manager last week (who said credit card statement would be ok after cashier said "sorry no receipt no return"). She said they could only refund the value on the day - so if it had been on sale today I'd have lost out.

I pointed out that I hadn't paid that much and would be happy with a replacement, but they insisted!

Tesco are great, I bought the godfather collection on DVD for a shelf price of £12, I used the self scan checkout and it came up as £18. I bought it anyway then queried it at customer service. I was expecting to get the £6 difference back but they have a double the difference policy and I got £12 back.

Godfather trilogy for £6 result!

You could still take it back to Costco for 90 days.

My brother took a 4yr old TV/VCR combo back under their old policy and they just chucked it in cage and gave him £400 back.

They once paid me to take 48 stubby lagers away due to a mismatch between shelf and till prices. silly

They had to change their overcharging policy a few years ago due to Xbox 360s, the price on the shelf was £170 and the customers were being charged £189.99 or something. The old policy was keep the item and get your money back = lots of free £180 xbox's
