Newbie to MW2 - what next?
Discussion
I am currently hooked on Battlefield 2:Bad Company. It's a bit slower than MW2 but you play with all sorts of vehicles (I do enjoy running people down in a tank), and a few weapons as well. It doesn't seem to suffer with the lag I get on MW2 even with my OH being on-line at the same time.
Ok, I had my first go at MW2 online this morning...
It's quite tricky isn't it...
I died about 10 times and managed to fire my gun all of about three times, I don't think I actually hit anybody, and I certainly didn't kill anybody. Getting shot to hamburger meat by a helicopter was a particular low point...

Have you played the single player version? It's quite tricky isn't it...

If not, do it, but turn off auto-aim.
It will at the very least make you much better at aiming and firing quickly.

I did get the option to 'steal' a class which gave me a heartbet sensor... but I am not sure it worked as I got shot by somebody invisible to the dratted thing.
It was still fun, but I'd like to make at least 1 kill... Practise practise practise
MW2 is one of the best FPS type games I've played, even the sound track is an epic score by Hans Zimmer. I got MW2 for xmas after enjoying the first MW so much. I found the first game more of a challenge in Veteran, except for the spec ops missions in MW2 which are much tougher on Veteran than the campaign levels. I find there is a fair bit of playability out of those two games just playing campaigns through on the different difficulty setting.
I really am looking forward to what-ever they publish next, but I'm hoping it's not a vietnam war game as some websites are speculating. I don't think I could bare level after level of samey environments with plants and shrubs blocking the sights of the gun.
The problem I found playing games like this online in the past was that there are always guys that spend 10-12 hours everyday practicing and know almost every pixel of every arena and all the vulnerable areas, or worse stick clear sights on to the tv so they don't have to aim using a scope - so they are incredibly quick, often to the point of frustration. At the same time it'd be nice if the guys in your squad and the enemy on the campaign levels behaved more like human players.

Yes that is indeed the problem. I will never be able to put the time in to compete with the guys who play 10 hours a day... Sadly the wife and daughter just won't stand for it.
It is a great game, I just wish I was better at it dammit!
The single player campaign was great, if a little short, but I guess for the hardcore the game is really about online rather than single player. It would be great if some DLC contained extra missions as well as multiplayer maps...

Yhea add on missions would be a massive bonus. I think they would potentially sell even more copies of their game if people knew they could go on expanding it and get more hours of gameplay. I'm no die hard gamer but I completed Veteran in 10hrs which gives me a total after playing every campaign through as 20hrs (the only thing I haven't bothered with completing is all the hidden intel)
Personally I would be more interested in playing co-operative type levels rather than taking on (pwnd lol neewb!111! type) lads who're glued to their monitor for 12 hrs and move a super human speed. I think this'd be more my cup of tea so you can progress strategically more like a real squad rather than getting badly outflanked. I think they tried to get this feeling of camaraderie across in the missions where you and Capt. Price work together, but it's not the same as having an actual person to tag along with, the reactions are staged.
