Questions on Lowered Floor Option

I am an Ultima GTR fan, but not yet an owner. I have some questions about the lowered floor option. From what I can tell by looking at photos and build sites, most people have the lowered floor option.
Is it possible to order an Ultima kit without the lowered floor option? It appears that the under-car aero would be better with a flat floor, rather than a lowered floor.
How far does the lowered floor extend below the bottom of the rest of the car?
Some have said that they do not fit in the car well without the lowered floor. Is it really needed if one is 167cm (5' 6") in height?

most go for the lower floor as once you wear a crash helmet your head nearly touches the roof...and the difference in aero ??? (doubt i wouldnt ever be able to find it!!!!!!!!)
Also when you come to sell it, most over 6 foot will not get in it!!especially with a crash helmet......so restricts your sale!!

No its not needed at 5ft 6 so long as you stuck with factory seats....seating with a thicker base would have your head on the roof.
As importantly though is the resale value, you might be limiting future owners. The car set up for street use would doubtfully see much benefit from a flat floor, maybe if you built for track use only its more of a concern.

Yes I to hated the lowered floor but with any GTR I would recommend you have it for the reasons stated above Helmet and Resale......
I didn't have one as was told I never needed it at 5'9" (By Factory), but I had to retro fit one afterwards as I dam well did need one.......gerrrr
But I redesigned my New car now to get rid of it, as it seems silly not to take advantage of the flat floor. But I have a longer wheelbase and a more reclined seat to lower my head down....
Now can fit a guy 6'5"..... So I have loads of room for my helmet now....

IMO if you are that concerned about aerodynamics for track use then you would be buying the wrong car. Try a Radical or similar instead. It will always be faster round a track.
The Ultima is a road car that can be used on the track to considerable effect but a purpose built racer will always be better on a track. The Ultima is as good a track-day car as any road car can be but it is a road car. If you wanted the ultimate track car you would start with something else!

rrrr but Rob, how close is your head to the roll cage when your helmets on??Its certainly tighter getting in and out due to the seat being higher when you slide in and some have to have removable steering wheels to help get in!!!
I remember your cabin compared to mine when i was helping Kyle with your throttle linkages......wow that was tight. although i dont think the ultima is designed to fit a 6 foot guy in the footwell, whether lowered on normal floor....
But seeing as you have a flat floor, do you think the aero on your car is better than the others with a dropped one???

Jeeps you must have a disproportionate leg length.... I must admit I have a longer body and shorter leg than most people...When you want to run your Ultima on the road the lowered floor is good for a bigger cocpit, but when you like aero and want to run a flat floor you need to change to a flat floor. this you can see also here:

Not much sense for all these efforts and then find out that the ride height is not really good for the road any more.
yep its depends what you want to do. on the road a flat floor will not be so effective than on the racetrack, where you can lower the car to the max.Not much sense for all these efforts and then find out that the ride height is not really good for the road any more.
but we gained a very high + in Dornwforce with our Underbody on the Racetrack.
you really feel the difference on driving and the laptime is going tdown for secounds, when we have tested with and without flat floor!
