Hi

I am welding in some patches of metal onto the inner wing of my Mk2 XR2 and have an area that I will have very little access to when I have the new plate over the top. The only access will be through a 2" grommet hole which is about 4" from the plate. As such, I can't get in with conventional seam sealant, so can anyone offer any advice on how I can go about doing this??

The area in question is here:

This photo was taken before all the rust was cut out. To the right, you can see the little grommet hole.

Thanks!

IMO dont spray in seam sealer as it can trap any moisture in and help rust develop, better to use aerosol wax oil.

Excellent! Thank you!

I will get some of that and liberally apply it through the grommet hole. I know it says that it can be used on bare metal and is suitable to prevent rust etc, but how long would it be effective for before I need to reapply? In this location, it is likely to get reasonably hot in the summer months, and the area is exposed to the elements due to slats in the top of the panel.

Thanks
