fuel rail refirb

Looking at my fuel rail I would like to clean it up ready for the engine swap, question is what to do, spray paint it ?, or can you powder coat, or even replate it ??

well i did think about that as there is a place local that does it, did you paint yours ?? it looks like they must have been plated from new, mine is a bit rusty.

The original finish on the fuel rail looks to be zinc and passivate... (you can only Anodise Aluminium)

.. you can chemi black (or other colours) on steel but it’s not the best…. Or how about Nickel plating… that’s what goes under Chrome and gives the silver appearance (Chrome is actually clear and pourus.. bet you didn’t know that!!)… If you ask for electro-less Nickel the plating will get everywhere (even inside the tubes) so may be best sticking to electrolytic nickel… you could have it chromed also?... but nickel will give it a nice new look without it being too ‘bling’…

I rubbed mine down with fine emery and had it sprayed black using 2 k paint.

2 pack, resistant to fuel ect, very hard finish.

Or you can chuck the fuel rail in a box or bucket together with any other brackets, bolts etc and have the lot zink/cadmium plated for a hundred quid or so... this is how my engine builder in the UK works for the 'OEM/show' look...

I had this done to my wiper motor components after i refurbed it cost me £20 because the local classic motorcycle shop chucked it in with some of their stuff,don't alf make a difference to the appearance

You can buy the kit's to do this yourself... it's easy with a 12v battery... look in classic bike mag's

Not a fan of these kits, you end up with a load of toxic chemicals in solution you cant get rid of without poisoning the local wildlife, but this is worth a look:

Yes they come free if you buy Throttle Bodies

I'll try and remember to have a look if my Wildcat fuel rails are at the same centres as the EFi manifold when I next venture into the garage
