Freelander gear issues!
Discussion
Hi guys,
I've got a 54' td4 sport freelander (80,000), which had some kind of fault on either the clutch or gearbox!
Basically, it drives really well, except the gear lever can be pretty hard / reluctant to go into some of the gears, normally 1st, 2nd or third. Have to either double clutch or try a couple of times, problem is a little erratic as sometimes it's fine!
Clutch biting point is low, and quite sharp
just had a new pressure plate fittted and cylinders/system checked. Which has helped, but not sorted the problems.
Doesn't graunch going into gear
no clutch slipping noticeable.
Any help would be great!
Cheers

I have a 04 freeby and im having similar issues. im on 49k with mine.
I have had the master cylinder replaced and the system bled, however i believe the problem is the slave cylinder. This also forms the thrust bearing so to get to it you need to remove the front prop, ird unit, front subframe, part of the suspension and split the engine and gearbox.
My local garage can do it with a replacement clutch for £540 and recon its a 8 hour job. Luckily my new warrenty will cover it and i can get some transmission stuff looked at as well.
Good luck.
