A dealer advised me recently that it is not possible to put a towbar onto an XFR - does anybody know if it's possible to put one onto an S-V8? Also, I assume that there are no problems with tow-bars on the Diesel cars - can anybody confirm that?

thanks,
Richard.

I would say that the same would be true of the SV8, these cars aren't designed to tow.......buy a Land Rover!

I wish!!! No - it's for my Caterham racing car. Currently have a LandRover (well not really - it's a Freelander), but looking to update to something a bit more comfortable, and something that might make a good long distance cruiser when not towing...

Big Jag fan, love the XFR but I needed a compromise so bought the 2010MY Range Rover Sport. Can I tell yah that it is superb, actually handles very well and has some poke even the 3.0 TDV6. The TDV8 is stunning and the Supercharged version with the same engine as the XFR is blinding.....go see as it is very quiet, comfortable and will tow an awful lot.

Interesting.....I tested a new Range Rover Sport before deciding to buy an XFR.
I'd always liked the idea of a RR and I was all set to buy one but the test drive didn't give me the "buzz" I was looking for - nevertheless it is very impressive for what it is. I described it to my wife at the time as feeling like an "XF on stilts".

I'm sure you can get a tow bar for an XF (I seem to recall it winning best diesel tow car or similar in some publication or other), but perhaps not the XFR because it has a different rear bumper design. The SV8 has the standard bodywork (same as diesel) so you might be OK with that.

PS I'm still absolutely loving the XFR. That Mike Cross is a genius. One minute you can be in dynamic (=hooligan) mode, using the paddles, flowing between corners and enjoying that V8 sound and the next minute in cruiser mode with the amazing B&W stereo turned up going to pick up the kids. It does it all.

Ahh.......I'll concede the XFR doesn't like snow! Mind you, EVO magazine test the XFR on winter tyres in the snow this month with impressive results.

Absolutely Norman

Towing a racing Caterham is the perfect use for a tow bar.
I was chatting to a neighbour who has just taken delivery of a new Porsche GT3 (lucky barsteward) and I suggested he added a tow bar to that so he can tow his R400 to track days. What a great sight that would make!
