Lamborghini question
Discussion
I was toying with the idea of raffling the murcielago roadster, Yes it is for sale and yes it would help sell it but, How great would it be for someone winning the raffle and getting themselves a Lamborghini for £100. I would sell only 1150 tickets at £100 each no more no less. Im sure this has been done alot before, Any thoughts ?
I think you'll need to have a competition involving an element of skill, rather than just a simple raffle. IIRC a couple got into trouble doing something similar with their house. http://www.out-law.com/page-9382
Even if you try and follow the rules and regs and do it all legit, there are plenty of unknown pitfalls.
IIRC a couple tried to raffle off their estate in Devon last year. It took months and months after the raffle had ended because some government department/quango stuck their snouts in at the last moment.
Minefield! Makes even Fleabay look sane!
Edited to add: yes I am a slowcoach when it comes to typing - I'm thinking same house as above!!!!

Since the gambling act 2005 this type of thing has become a bit of a minefield. In itself the act is a badly thought out and badly executed pile of tripe, but still exists, that and the competition commission who don't really know what's legal and not and tend to wing it as far as possible...

So what does everyone reckon if Jon asks something along the lines of "What word beginning with G best describes diablo_pete?" Do you think it'll require enough skill, judgment or knowledge to answer it? Or would "a significant proportion" of the people who entered get it correct?
i reckon that if jon gives-out the answer, then it becomes a lottery again !

Just spoken to the gambling commisson. ANOTHER F ING THING YOU ARE NOT ALOUD TO DO IN THIS COUNTRY. Oh well It was a thought I suppose.
I am going to drive down the motorway now at 70mph
You would have had to have spent a fair bit on advertising to sell over a thousand tickets, so you'd have to sell even more tickets to make up the difference. I wonder how much 'Best of the Best' pay for their airport pitches?I am going to drive down the motorway now at 70mph

If you didn't manage to sell all the tickets then you'd be a bit stuck too. You'd have to collect credit card details somehow so you could have the ability to refund, that would cost a fair bit.
I thought they got around that by saying something along the lines of "if I dont sell enough tickets, the winner will get half the income from tickets sold" or similar. As stated earlier, I thought as long as you had a license and tha there was an element of skill involved, it was game on!
