Britcar 2010 reduced entry fees ??

Just a little snippet of info that has come via the bush telegraph, hopefully it's correct, for I have it on extremely good authority that Britcar have done a revised and upgraded sponsorship deal with Dunlop that James has decided to pass on directly to 2010 competitors. The net effect would be a 20% or thereabouts entry fee reduction for GT teams and competitors and similar or better for production etc etc.
I don't have full details but perhaps this post will be supported by a reply from Britcar that will give us all the good news and details of the savings we can all make.
On a personal front, all I need now is a car to race with, preferably a 997 and ideally, someone who will consider taking my 996 in part exchange, market conditions out there seem a little slow but then again, we are still stuck in recessionary times and it's very difficult all round.

There is a price reduction as mentioned by Rod. We have had all the go ahead this morning so we are drafting the new prices so we can pass this directly onto you guys. We hope to get these out to you all by the end of today, just need to double check our figures everywhere. This applies to all our series as well, GT, Production and Britsports Caterhams.
The 24hr, at £2900, is already borderline too cheap (it costs more to do the 24hr Kart race at Le Mans for example) so that's as low as it'll go.

How can it be "too cheap"?If the organisers make some money, as a business, then it cannot be "too cheap".
To campare it with a 24hour go kart race is just farcicle, when the only common element is 24 hours. The remainder of the comparison just doesn't apply! i.e. Different track, totally different type of vehicle and different regulations just for a start.

True the 2 events listed are not the same, other than being 24hr motor races, it was simply a throw away comparison that with this current offer it is cheaper to enter a 24hr motor race for GT and Production cars on a current F1 circuit than it is to enter an undoubtable excellent 24hr motor race in karts on a kart track.

£2900 would'nt come close to paying for the physio you would need after the 24hr Kart race! Very pleased to see that costs are coming down.
It would be good to take this opportunity for us to see who is actually signed up for this year.

Sorry to be controvertial, though it is my want....If you got more sponsorship, then you offset that against the cost of the event, thus subsidising it and making it cheaper for the competitors to enter/run in, thus more come, fuller grid, more money for you.
There is another way, but that would require a complete overhaul in British motorsport, and it'd never happen in this money grabbing world we live in. It's called the "NASCAR method". Fill the place up with paying punters, the gate money, merchandising and sponsorship leads to the event organisers PAYING competitors to take part, giving them free tyres and fuel, good god, it'd never catch on.
But that would take some marketing know-how, and a lot of "old boy network string pulling" to get the media on-side.
Otherwise we carry on with the "few chums who fancy a wheeze on a Saturday/Sunday going for a spin down to Thruxton in their MG-A" method of competitor fleeced motorsport.
Other than that, well done for getting more money out of Dunlop. You sell enough of their tyres in a round-about way, they should be paying you more commission!

We keep working on it, hence the increased money from Dunlop (and reduced entry fees) and the re-signing of Mackinnon Construction sponsoring the GT's and our technical partnerships with the likes of Stand 21 etc. We try to get more each year of this mythical being called 'sponsership' and we are having some success.thunderbelmont said:

Hence the free tickets to the 24hrs (the only gate we have any control over) to try and get as many spectators in as we can. The bigger event we can make it the more chance it has of paying for itself down the line.You need the mass media behind you David. That's the hard part.

I always remember the Sun/Daily Star/Capital Radio/etc... Free/£1 days at Brands, the place was heaving with people, who all paid to get into the grandstands, eat food, buy merchandise, and watch normal club motorsport.

The free days were good, I remember that was my fiorst visit to a motor race a s akid was going to the CSMA day at Brands. From the circuits point of view though why would they risk the possibility of loads of people maybe turning up and buying burgers and programs etc when you can just charge the organising club a large wedge of money and guarantee your income for minimal effort?
This is something we have been looking into over the last couple of years so hopefully there might be somthing in the future.
