Incomplete profiles

Hi

In my view you have far too many people who fail to complete their profiles. They enter a stupid nickname (like me) but fail to add their real name (or just duplicate their nickname) or where they live,what they do, what car they drive or any photo of the motor. Understand its a free world and all that but it's supposed to be a motoring-based website and I think people are interested to see what sort of motor a poster drives and a bit more background provides a context for people's contributions.

In particular there seems to be a strong correlation between those who post a great deal of crap and a scanty profile. In my view newbies should be unable to post until the profile is completed in full. Understand that not everyone who wants to post will have a car but they should say so. There would still be a lot of room for people to enter incorrect information but at least it might help filter out some of the more moronic contributions that spoil the site. "Derk"'s recent contributions spring to mind in this respect.

While I agree that it is annoying I think you'll find that almost everybody starts posting with a pretty blank profile and then fills out the interesting bits at a later date.

Making it a requirement will just put off the genuine people and cause the trolls to enter more nonsense.

Agreed and for a good number of the users their relative anonymity has its benefits for the whole of the forum.
