With the absence of a Haynes style manual for my X300, I was wondering what sort of routine maintenance is possible to do yourself. Simple stuff really like changing brake disks / pads, rather than properly technical, enginey things.

Basically, are there any areas of supposedly routine stuff that you need special tools for, or are best left to the expert? As far as I see it, this car is a keeper and I want to ensure it's around as long as possible.

Yup, you can buy a proper workshop manual for the X300 from the JDHT. It'll cost you about £20 and is much better value then cheaper copies you'll find on e bay.

The X300 is actually a pretty easy car to work on and capable of high mileages if looked after well. If you're reasonably competent there's no reason why you can't do most jobs yourself - if you get stuck for tools most of the specalist ones can be hired from the JEC.

Cool, thanks.

It clicked over to 123k today, I know it will be able to get to loads more than that, will take care to make sure it does.
