Old glass slides to digital format how?

I have a couple of old glass slides measuring approx 80mm x 80mm appears the slide / negative is sandwiched between the glass.

From what I can gather such slides were used for lecture purposes as they are of landscape.

I would like to get them converted into a digital file but cant seem to find any info as to where I can get it done

Any tips or ideas and pointers graetfully received.

I'd prop it up in front of an evenly lit white source and rephotograph it - but there may be a less Heath Robinson way.
