Well, it had to happen one day...

havent played the 360 in ages, decide to turn it on for some Forza 3 action - it locks up during the first race, turn it off and on again... and get the 3 flashing red lights frown

Out of interest, how old is your console? Do Microsoft still fix them for free under extended warranty or something?

i'm not sure how old it is, and ive just registered on MS and got this message:
Standard Warranty Expired: A three-year warranty applies to conditions indicated by three red lights. Please click "request a new repair" to proceed
I thought someone had said the RROD was now covered to 5 years?

once it has been repaired they extend it by a further period...so if it RRODs within the first 3 years and again in the extension period...and then again you can end up with a longer period of cover (as per mine) for RROD issues ONLY

first RROD within 3 years, then again before the extended period is up, then again before the further extended period etc etc

guys will read then and call me a liar, I don't care tbh all I know is what it says on my M/S support page when I click on my serial number

I bought my first Xbox360 at Launch and have had RROD 3 times now and have NOT had to pay a penny
mine is now covered until July 2010 iirc

edit . yes mine is covered until July 2010 for RROD issues ONLY, i just checked on M/S

 1. Device: Xbox360 Hardware
 2. Serial Number: xxxxxxxxxxxx
 3. Warranty Status: In Warranty
 4. Warranty Type: Repair
 5. Warranty Start:
 6. Warranty Expiration: 7/2010
