i'm considering buying a new car from one of these 2 companies. They are offering some very good discounts but are there any downsides ? Are their cars covered by the full manufacturers warranty ? Would the car have the same part-ex value as a main dealer car in 3 years time ? Are there any other downsides ?

The majority of "car supermarket" cars are imports. The problem with imports is the warranties are not the same as UK cars. I work for Renault and the UK is the only country that gets a 3yr warranty so make sure you are fully aware what the warranty period is and how long it has left on it, if the cars have been sitting around for a while, the warranty will more than likely have started as soon as it was delivered to it's original intended destination so it's highly likely that you wont have the full warranty remaining.

I work in customer svcs and we get a few customers calling up with imports that are in their 3rd year and have no warranty, seems a bargain at the time but when you have repair bills it can cost you more than buying a UK car from a dealer.

Hope that helps

For imports, the warranty starts fromwhen it was first delivered in the orignial country I think. Therefore the warranty on the car may be shorter than you think
