Gumtree is changing...
Discussion
About time you could see more than one area, but a very different experience. Is in effect becoming a national classifeds- quite addictive too.
as its owned by Ebay, surely they are now treading on each others toes though, and with Gumtree (currently) free?
Also will be a big concern for Autotrader Id imagine, along with others.

Another one about to bite the dust?
Best auction site was Yahoo auctions (the UK one) until eBay shut it down.
How did they do that, then?Best auction site was Yahoo auctions (the UK one) until eBay shut it down.

Bit late to this, but looking at gumtree's implementation it looks pretty crude. It looks like further segmentation by suburb rather than "show me all flats for rent within 3 miles of postcode AB1 3CC".
Obviously they have mass on their side though so it's still a sensible thing for them to do.
Just the scammers they need to deal with then...
Yes, tedvertiser is up against it, but Rome (and PH) wasn't built in a day
Who knows where it will end up, but it's good to be out there driving something forwards.
Will Gumtree/Ebay changes worry Autotrader etc? To some extent, but then I think autotrader have had significant challenges over the last ten years and will continue to do so. ebay is facing many challenges of its own that prevent it consuming the likes of Autotrader. On Autotrader's side, they have a very strong brand - it'll be interesting to see what shape it's in within another ten years though (and whether they have a print business left).
