Any recommendations?

After looking at the Pioneer F900BT (seems a bit flakey and Pioneer navi software puts me off) I'm about the push the button on a Kenwood DNX5240BT.

Any experiences/opinions/alternative recommendations?

I had the F900 Pioneer, it was rubbish, had it removed a week later. It was fiddly to use, Bluetooth gave poor call quality. It took forever to boot up. I now have the Kenwood DNX7240bt which in comparion is suberb, top bit of kit.

I also have a Kenwood DNX7240bt, an excellent unit. It took me ages looking and comparing and was leaning towards this one when the Gadget Show compared it with a Pioneer unit and voted it best, mainly because the satnav was so much better. So that sealed it. My local car audio place beat the best internet price and fitted it for a reasonable fee too.

I've got a Kenwood DNX5240BT and it's great! A brilliant all rounder. It's robust as well. In fact it was one of the only things to survive from my written off Corsa. Though hopefully in your case it won't come to that. wink

As a slight aside to this, will this unit allow a cd multi changer to be added?

I think so but I use an ipod these days, so much better than cds cluttering up the car.

My first post and it will be negative wink

But I have some knowledge about Pioneer sat navs, hence I may as well save you some money and trouble.

I used to work for Pioneer in Castleford. We were making plasma TVs and DVD players but thanks to great discounts we were able to buy other stuff at low prices. So many of us bought sat navs.

My opinion is that they are overpriced, overengineered and far worse than for example some basic Tom Tom models in terms of reception and maps. That was 3 years ago so a lot could change since then but I will not go for Pioneer sat nav ever again.

In my opinion Pioneer should stick to making audio equipment as this is the only good stuff they're doing.
