Anyone got it yet? I didnt even realise it was out today but was walking past Game and saw it so went in and bought it. I loved the first game and this is pretty much more of the same thing which is good.

This arrived by courier about 20mins ago:

The Big Daddy figurines are not included (very good quality, from Play.com - still waiting on the Big Sister/Little Sister).

You do get the game, a really sturdy presentation box, 12" vinyl soundtrack, CD soundtrack, 3 posters (rolled) and a hardback art book - it's all very high quality, just to play the game now!

Not quite - I got the game from Zavvi.com (£50 instead of £70 for the collector's edition) - the Big Daddy Bouncer figurine I got in December, and the Big Daddy Delta (one on the left) I got yesterday.

Nice! How is BS2 to play, if you've had the chance to fire it up? I think I'll probably end up getting it off Steam, later tonight.

Not played it yet - sorry! Making dinner and then off to the cinema tonight. I may play it later tonight though, although I want to go through Bioshock 1 one more time first. I don't think I have that much restraint though!

Judging from the reviews it's an improvement on the original, but if you've played the first the 'wow' factor of Rapture isn't as strong. It will be interesting to see how the multiplayer feels - 2K sub-contracted Digital Extremes to do it - based on their track record (Unreal Tournament series), it should be good.

Any more thoughts from people?

Im off out to get a new elite to replace my borked launch premium and the local game store are doing an elite plus Bioshock 2 and a choice of a few other games for £199 or an elite with ME2 for £199.

Think Ill get the Bioshock 2 one and trade the other game in for ME2, best of both worlds then.

Still in two minds whether to get this or not, i played through the first one 1.5 times before i got bored, although i thought it was brilliant i'd prefer a game i can come back to (like Dragon Age, oblivion or even Halo).

OT but what's Dragon Age like, I saw it in Game for £30, is it similar to Oblivion?

Why?

Who the hell (under the age of about 35) would be able to play one of those??

No, more like Baldurs Gate/Knights of the Old Republic.

It has an over-the-shoulder perspective rather than first person like Oblivion, but it's a proper old school D&D-esque RPG. And a complete time vampire.

I've finished it once and swore I'd then go and play something else. Bioshock 2 and DJ Hero (which was bought as a pressie at Christmas but is still unopened) are waiting to be played, and I've barely touched Borderlands and Forza 3. Why? Because the OCD completionist in me won't let me give up on DA:O until I've got all the achievements! (Plus I actually rather enjoy it....)

I've deliberately not bought Mass Effect 2 yet because it's going to be another devourer of free time in just the same way. So little time, so many games....!!

I've only completed it the once, but did have Mass Effect 2 sitting there waiting to be unwrapped. Mass Effect 2 is quite a lot better in my eyes.

Yeah, it's not as open-ended as Oblivion (ignoring its horrible main-quest line) but it is a decent RPG with lots to do with a good combat system. Already on my second playthrough on nightmare difficulty, although it's going a bit slow as every fight is a fight to the death smile First play through clocked in at 65 hours, so definately got my moneys worth already, and there are about 6 different endings and lots of different story approaches to try.

The "being a Big Daddy and protecting Little Sisters" part towards the end of Bioshock 1 was my least favourite part of the game, and I understand that for Bioshock 2 you're a Big Daddy for the whole game. Is that right?

I'd be interested in knowing how that works.

Also, as has already been alluded to, I'm not sure that the atmosphere is going to be the same. There was a sense of wonder and discovery in the first Bioshock that's going to be difficult to reproduce in a sequel.

I'm not writing it off, but I think I'd like to hear what people think of it before I consider buying it.

It fits in with the whole art deco theme of Bioshock - plenty of people still have turntables, especially audiophiles. Don't worry, there's a CD soundtrack too (Black playing surface and LP-style label on other side). Would sir prefer a Big Daddy USB key?

As for the gameplay: although you're a Big Daddy, you're one of the prototypes, so not as tough as the later ones. The splicers have also had 10 years to mutate even further, and only the strongest have survived. You're now given three options for the Little Sisters - harvest or rescue, as before, and now adopt, where you have to protect her as she gathers Adam. If you didn't like the protecting bits of Bioshock 1, just choose not to now.

The game takes part in previously unseen parts of Rapture, and there are now underwater scenes, so the wow factor is still there, although not as strong as the original Bioshock.

You do know you can select a 3rd-person camera in Oblivion (and Fallout 3) too - if you're that way inclined...........
