Hi all

Thinking of buying a Freelander2. Test drove one last week and was very impressed except for the braking!

All was well until I tried an emergency stop from around 40/50 mph. The thing just skidded for about 4 metres. The weather conditions were damp, but even so all my other cars would have stopped in half the distance.

this has really turned me off the car, any thoughts?

The Highway Code stopping distance from 50mph is 53 metres. If you did it in 4 metres, I'd say the car is doing pretty well!

Thanks for your opinions, I think I will see if I can get one for the weekend and give it a proper test. Hard to tell what a motor is like on a 30min test drive with the sales man sitting next to you

Check the tyres ... Brand / Condition makes a massive difference.

It was a brand new car, so I would have thought the tyres were okay, but you can never tell, they may have been over inflated.

I will try another for a full day or weekend and let you know how I get on
