Well, not very much really....
Thought I'd just say hello since I've been lurking for a while.
As appears customary here, I thought I'd show you the beginnings of my collection....don't expect anything fancy since I'm only young and on an extremely modest income
First up, the fashion watch:

Now I know what you're thinking...and to be honest I probably agree with you.
HOWEVER...
It was a christmas present from my girlfriend this year...after having a really tough year (financially, emotionally...you name it....certainly been through the ringer) a bit of an indulgence on something which could be deemed quite frivolous meant a lot coming from her.
Next up, the Tag Heuer:

This was a timepiece given to me by my dad. Its the first watch I remember being impressed by, must have been 10 at the time. He recently gave it to me after he got something a little nicer. Another sentimental watch, it was bought with the inheritance that he received from his mum when she died... Being 1 of 4 kids, it was nice that he chose me to give it to.
Aspirations:
I have to say, since reading through this forum, I've really become quite partial to a nice watch and am thinking of adding to the small collection. I'd really like a watch with an automatic movement, but shopping on a shoestring is a challenge!
Things that have caught my eye thus far:
Panerai Homage:

Modified Seiko 5:

.....Far flung future aspirations:
Tag Grand Carrera:

Stowa MO with display back:

Grail Watch:

Questions, Comments etc gratefully received

Don't worry, there are plenty of affordable Automatics on the market... check the 'Watch for £50' thread and see the Seiko 5 for £38 that has a display back and an auto movement.Oh and nice choice on grail, that's a Master Tourbillon isn't it?
I rather want a Master Hometime!
That will hopefully be my next watch...!

The JLC is indeed the Master Tourbillon...I love JLC's style. Classic, modern, refined...all with such an air of class and, dare I say it, modesty?
Any comments on the Panerai copy? I know they're not politically correct, but for someone with no hope of purchasing a real one, are they just a waste of money or is the quality alright?
I bought a Pan snide from Getat. It was a solid watch, got bored with it and flipped it a few weeks ago.
Have a look over at Perpetual watches in Hong Kong and see whst you think, I don't think anyone on PH has one yet but folk over on Watchuseek like them. Be careful on WUS, it's all a bit American over there and you'll soon start lusting over tacky Alpha watches.
Have a look at Seagull USA too, or just save time and buy a Seiko Monster (they are that good, and unbeatable bang for buck).
I have a watch I'm not 100% about given to me by the other half, I'd never get rid of it and it's the one with the most wear !

Some nice watches there. I actually like the look of that Armani.
The Seiko 5 looks lovely, would probably be a good buy.
The Stowa MO is superb I had one, and keep wondering about getting another but the thought of a Dornblueth gets in the way ... however, that will be a while yet.
And to keep you enthused about JLC, who are undoubtedly one of the finest manufactures out there, in fact having given it some thought I think they are the finest ... anyway here is my Master Date:

Any excuse eh ...

Well, one has a Unitas movement...
One's a proper one.

I'm not asking you to compare it with a real Panerai though...I'm saying that I like the style and if i were to spend £60-£70 on an "homage" would it fall apart after 30 seconds and I'd be left thinking I'd have been better figuring out the time from the sun?
As I've said previously, I don't have the luxury of a large budget at the moment.

Problem is that not all homages are equal. I understand that the Timefactors PRS-20 is very, very well made.

I hate you. The Seiko 5 looks lovely, would probably be a good buy.

If you want a cheap auto you need to read the What watch for £50 thread...
Nice aspirational watches though. I'm in the process of trying to decide on which Stowa to buy my old man as a thank you for some stuff he did for me last year, I think they are awesome for the money. And I'm really coming round to JLC watches.
I've got a Monster and I really rate them, I'm after another Seiko at the moment and quite fancy another diver.
