Off to Madras in a couple of weeks.Doc informs me today that malaria pills not required.I took paludrine/avloclor on last trip to northern India.Anyone with recent experience of the Madras[Chennai] to Kerala areas.

Yes that was the site my doctor used but when i googled Chennai malaria it was not at all reassuring.

For Chennai and Kerela anti-malarials not usually required. You should however use insect repellent to avoid being bitten by anything not just mozzies.

Thanks folks,looks like I will be ok just using sprays etc.My wife is going to her own doc tomorrow so should get confirmation.
nb my worst bite reaction was from an ankle attack in a canalside restaurant in Milan.

Just keep covered up in light cotton clothes as it gets dark. If you end up in the Backwaters of Kerala, expect to be feasted on!
